Predicted Chelsea line-up vs Sheffield United

Chelsea are scheduled to host Sheffield United in the Premier League this afternoon.

The west London giants have accumulated 12 points from their first seven matches of the season.

They are unbeaten in the previous five games in all competitions with two draws and three victories.

Frank Lampard's side have also shown a vast improvement in their defensive record and have kept five successive clean sheets.

Formation: 4-3-3

Predicted Line-up:

Kepa Arrizabalaga has returned to contention after a shoulder problem, but he should only feature on the bench. Edouard Mendy is now regarded as the undisputed first-choice goalkeeper.

In the backline, no changes are expected from the midweek Champions League win over Rennes. Reece James and Ben Chilwell will occupy the right and left-back spots respectively with Kurt Zouma once again partnering Thiago Silva in the central defence.

In the centre of the park, N'Golo Kante, Jorginho and Mason Mount should keep their places. There is the temptation to play Mateo Kovacic, but Lampard has quite often gone with Jorginho over the Croatian. Kai Havertz is out after testing positive for COVID-19.

Further forward, Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech are the likely choices on the left and right side of the attack, meaning that Callum Hudson-Odoi may have to settle for a bench role. Christian Pulisic, meanwhile, is sidelined with another concerning hamstring injury.

Tammy Abraham is expected to lead the line ahead of Olivier Giroud once more. The England international has made just five of his 11 appearances from the starting lineup, but has still impressed with three goals and five assists.

Chelsea Predicted Line-up (4-3-3): Edouard Mendy; Reece James, Thiago Silva, Kurt Zouma, Ben Chilwell; Jorginho, N'Golo Kante, Mason Mount; Hakim Ziyech,Tammy Abraham, Timo Werner
