Predicted Chelsea line-up (3-4-2-1) vs Man Utd, Pulisic and James start

28 April 2022 - 16:49

Chelsea face Manchester United on the road in tonight's Premier League encounter.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • The Blues recently returned to winning ways against West Ham United. They were far from their best, but ended up with a 1-0 victory.

Thomas Tuchel will be hoping that his team can produce a better display at Old Trafford, where they have not won since the 2012/13 season.

    Formation: 3-4-2-1

    Predicted Line-up:

Edouard Mendy has been an undisputed starter for the Blues in the Premier League, either side of the African Cup of Nations. The Senegal international is expected to start in goal.

In front of him, there could be a solitary change with Antonio Rudiger now fit after a groin injury. He is likely to partner Thiago Silva and Cesar Azpilicueta in the back three.

Reece James is fit after a minor hamstring issue, and should start at right wing-back where he is accustomed to playing. Marcos Alonso will be an assured starter on the other end with Ben Chilwell out injured.

In midfield, N'Golo Kante and Jorginho should be confirmed starters with Mateo Kovacic out injured. Ruben Loftus-Cheek is an option, but Tuchel may trust their experience against Ralf Rangnick's side.

Further forward, we anticipate one change. Timo Werner could make way for Christian Pulisic, who bagged a late 90th-minute winner against the Hammers. He should be partnered by Mason Mount and Kai Havertz.

Predicted Chelsea line-up (3-4-2-1): Mendy; Azpilicueta, Silva, Rudiger; James, Jorginho, Kante, Alonso; Mount, Pulisic; Havertz.
