Predicted Chelsea line-up vs Villarreal - UEFA Super Cup

Chelsea will face off against Villarreal in the UEFA Super Cup tonight. The Blues are aiming to win the European silverware for only the second time in five occasions.

The Champions League holders are favourites to lift the trophy, but can't afford any complacency against Villarreal, who emerged as shock Europa League winners against Manchester United.

Formation: 3-4-2-1

Predicted Line-up:

Edouard Mendy has firmly established himself as the first-choice goalkeeper. He is expected to start against the Yellow Submarines.

Kurt Zouma, Antonio Rudiger and Trevor Chalobah have been the regulars in central defence during the pre-season campaign.

Chalobah may make way for either Andreas Christensen or Cesar Azpilicueta. The former appears the more likely to start.

With Reece James and Ben Chilwell having recently returned to training, Thomas Tuchel may be reluctant to play them from the off.

Callum Hudson-Odoi and Marcos Alonso are widely expected to start in the right and left wing-back positions respectively.

It could be a similar case with midfield with the lack of match sharpness for Jorginho. Mateo Kovacic and N'Golo Kante are due to start.

No changes are expected in the attack that flourished in The Mind Series.

Kai Havertz and Hakim Ziyech have been lively in pre-season, and the latter bagged a brace against Tottenham Hotspur last week.

Timo Werner's position remains under scrutiny, but he fits into Tuchel's plans with his tireless work rate and knack of creating chances.

The German will lead the line tonight, but he could drop to the bench soon with the expected return of Romelu Lukaku from Inter.

Predicted Chelsea line-up (3-4-2-1): Mendy; Christensen, Zouma, Rudiger; Hudson-Odoi, Kovacic, Kante, Alonso; Ziyech, Havertz; Werner.
