Predicted Chelsea line-up (3-4-2-1) vs Crystal Palace, Ziyech starts

Predicted Chelsea line-up vs Crystal Palace today

Chelsea visit Selhurst Park for this afternoon's Premier League encounter against Crystal Palace.

The Blues will be firm favourites for the derby, having won the last eight meetings between the clubs.

Predicted Line-up:

Edouard Mendy has been an undisputed starter between the sticks when available for selection. He should make his first Premier League start since returning from the African Cup of Nations.

The backline may be identical to the Club World Cup final triumph. Andreas Christensen, Thiago Silva and Antonio Rudiger could retain their places in the central defence.

Reece James has yet to completely recover from his hamstring injury. Cesar Azpilicueta appears set to continue at right wing-back with Callum Hudson-Odoi on the opposite end.

N'Golo Kante played through the full 120 minutes against Palmeiras, and Thomas Tuchel could be tempted to rest him with the midweek Champions League game in mind.

This could pave the way for Mateo Kovacic to partner Jorginho in the centre of the park. The latter was an unused substitute for the Blues in their Club World Cup final victory.

In attack, Mason Mount won't feature as he recovers from an ankle ligament injury. This could see Hakim Ziyech reinstated into the starting line-up ahead of Christian Pulisic.

Pulisic has a good record against Palace, but Ziyech has netted in his last two league outings. The Moroccan should be partnered by Kai Havertz in attack with Romelu Lukaku leading the line.

Lukaku's position has come under scrutiny over the past month, but he redeemed himself at the Club World Cup with two key goals. He should start up front ahead of Timo Werner.

Predicted Chelsea line-up (3-4-2-1): Mendy; Christensen, Silva, Rudiger; Azpilicueta, Kovacic, Jorginho, Hudson-Odoi; Ziyech, Havertz; Lukaku.
