Predicted Chelsea line-up vs Chesterfield

Chelsea will entertain Chesterfield in the FA Cup third round tie this evening. The Blues are overwhelming favourites to progress despite the National League club's 23-match unbeaten streak.

Predicted Line-up:

Kepa Arrizabalaga is now the regular goalkeeper with Edouard Mendy out on AFCON duty. He could be rested with Marcus Bettinelli being handed his Blues debut.

In central defence, Antonio Rudiger could partner Andreas Christensen, who is available after a back problem. Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso appear confirmed starters in the full-back roles after injuries to Reece James and Ben Chilwell.

Tuchel is likely to stick with the double-six formation that he preferred at Paris Saint-Germain. Saul Niguez could be accompanied by Mateo Kovacic in the centre of the park with Jorginho being rested.

Ahead of the defensive midfield duo, Hakim Ziyech could slot into one of the attacking roles. Mason Mount, who has been almost ever-present since December, could be handed a breather with Ross Barkley getting the nod.

Further forward, Romelu Lukaku appears likely to start, judging by Tuchel's pre-match comments. Kai Havertz could make way to the bench for Timo Werner's first start since recovering from coronavirus.

Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-2-2): Bettinelli; Azpilicueta, Rudiger, Sarr, Alonso; Niguez, Kovacic; Ziyech, Barkley; Lukaku, Werner.
