Arsenal’s predicted line-up vs West Brom, Welbeck injury blow
Arsenal’s predicted line-up vs West Brom, Welbeck injury blow
Arsenal host West Brom on Monday and will look to continue their rediscovered form albeit without the service of Danny Welbeck.
Arsenal (3-5-2):
Petr Cech will step back in between the sticks after David Ospina played in Arsenal’s League Cup encounter with Doncaster. Arsenal have only conceded one goal since Liverpool 4-0 win over them, which came in the Europa League match against Cologne.
Rob Holding, Per Mertesacker, and Calum Chambers are all expected to give way to captain Laurent Koscielny, Shkodran Mustafi, and Nacho Monreal. Hector Bellerin and Sead Kolasinac will also likely start in the wing-back positions after impressing in the 0-0 draw with Chelsea.
Wilshere could be in contention for a starting spot after a string of impressive performances, especially in his first full match against Doncaster mid-week. Mertesacker referred to his performance as “vintage Wilshere” and expects him to carry on his good form.
However, Wenger will likely start with Granit Xhaka and Aaron Ramsey in the middle of the park, while Wilshere could make an appearance off the bench as the Arsenal manager carefully monitors the England midfielder’s return to top form.
Welbeck groin injury keeps him out until mid-October but the blow is softened by the return of Mesut Ozil after the German recovered from a knee injury. Alexis Sanchez, who came off the bench against Chelsea, completed a full match against Doncaster and is expected to start as well.
Lacazette will reclaim his starting spot from Olivier Giroud up top.
