Predicted Chelsea lineup vs Man City today

Chelsea welcome Manchester City to Stamford Bridge for today's early Premier League kick-off.

The Blues are currently leading the standings alongside Liverpool, and they can go six points clear of the Cityzens with a victory.

They will fancy their chances of doing so, having got the better of Pep Guardiola's side in the three meetings under manager Thomas Tuchel.

Predicted Lineup:

Edouard Mendy has been deemed fit to start. He is expected to return between the sticks ahead of Kepa Arrizabalaga, who has been in goal for the past two games.

Andreas Christensen, Thiago Silva, Antonio Rudiger were given a breather in midweek. The trio are expected to return at the heart of the defence.

Reece James had a superb showing against Aston Villa in the Carabao Cup third round, capped with an assist and a goal-line clearance.

He may get the nod over Cesar Azpilicueta at right wing-back. Marcos Alonso is a definite starter ahead of Ben Chilwell on the other side.

N'Golo Kante should be fit to play the full 90 minutes after 45-minute spells against Tottenham Hotspur and Villa over the past two encounters.

Mateo Kovacic could be the odd-man out as Kante is set to partner Jorginho. The duo starred in the Champions League final triumph in May.

There will be an enforced change in the attack with Mason Mount ruled out with a minor knock sustained in the midweek League Cup tie.

The direct replacement would obviously be Hakim Ziyech, who has been rotated with Mount and Kai Havertz in recent matches.

However, Tuchel could spring a surprise by playing Timo Werner and Romelu Lukaku up top with Havertz as the number 10.

Predicted Chelsea lineup (3-4-1-2): Mendy; Christensen, Silva, Rudiger; James, Jorginho, Kante, Alonso; Havertz; Werner, Lukaku.
