Marcos Alonso, Morata and Fabregas miss out on Spain World Cup squad
Premier League trio Marcos Alonso, Alvaro Morata and Cesc Fabregas have been omitted from Spain's World Cup for the tournament this summer in Russia. It comes as a major surprise for the duo, who play for Chelsea together.
It had been expected that the experienced three would be a part of Spain's squad for the showpiece tournament, but all three Chelsea players have been left behind. The news will come as a shock to many, as the Spanish trio had all been important members of the Blues' FA Cup winning squad.
Goalkeepers: David de Gea, Pepe Reina, Kepa Arrizabalaga
Defenders: Gerard Pique, Jordi Alba, Dani Carvajal, Sergio Ramos, Nacho Fernandez, Alvaro Odriozola, Cesar Azpilicueta, Nacho Monreal.
Midfielders: Sergio Busquets, Andres Iniesta, David Silva, Isco, Koke, Saul Niguez, Thiago Alcantara,
Forwards: Rodrigo Moreno, Iago Aspas, Diego Costa, Lucas Vazquez, Marco Asensio.
Spain are in the same group as Portugal - the Euro 2016 winners - Iran and Morocco, and are hot favourites to qualify for the next round.
Spain's squad will meet on Monday to begin their training for the tournament in Russia.
